Lowend101 Patch List
Why am I posting a patch list when you already have that list in the unofficial Sound pack Lowend101? – you can get it here on Elektronauts.
If our goal here is to learn new Recipes, I will on few of the original patch get insights on how I created it. Link will be assigned by their patch-name for easier recall.
What i have in mind prior to sound-design.
I covered already how to recreate sine waveform on our Analog Four, and give few clues here like UNISON as I said be gentle on Detune and Spread especially on a sub-bass sound. You should stay mostly in center. Low End content is often in mono so you don’t need to spread it out too much. If you do spread the Low End content too much then you will be scratching your head during the mix phase of your track wondering why the Low End is messed up. If you do good housekeeping of the frequencies you are using then the mixing phase of your song is much easier to do.
You may see annotations on some patches, it’s for their configurations and you can set it on Polyphony Configuration page :

UN-2 = Allocation :Unison and check 2 voices (1 & 2)
UN-4 = Allocation :Unison and check 4 voices (1, 2, 3 & 4)
POLY3 = Allocation :Poly and 3 Voices (CHORDS)
POLY4 = Allocation :Poly and 4 Voices (CHORDS)
Layer T1 and Layer T2 = Allocation :Unison and check 2 voices + “Use TRK SOUNDS” checked
ARP = used in ARPEGGIATOR Mode
Note on Configuration:
UNISON is an incredible tool when it comes to fatten-up the sound, generally 2 voices is sufficient. For an heavy vintage bass sustained 4 voices is incredible but not really economical in a live environment in terms of voices that’s why most are UN-2.
Poly Mode is used for chords in a traditional manners.
Layer T1 and Layer T2 make a good use of the USE TRK SOUNDS option, it’s an incredible tool for Layering Sound Design. That’s not an easy way of designing sounds. When you grasp the concept of Layer T1 and Layer T2 then it can really get you to discover new territory. RAVEY/T1 and RAVEY/T2, are Two Layers, the overall sound is called RAVEY and if you play it and set it up correctly you should play 2 tracks in the meantime, by playing one track only.
No need to explain the ARP Mode, everyone like ARPEGGIATOR right ?
