NY-Compression
NY Compression (New York Compression), also known as parallel compression, is a technique where a dry (uncompressed) signal is blended with a heavily compressed version of the same signal. This approach enhances the punch, density, and presence of a sound—commonly drums, vocals, or the mix bus—while retaining its natural dynamics. Widely used in New York studios, it’s now a staple of modern, powerful mixing.
