Transient
A transient is the short, sharp initial attack of a sound, typically found at the beginning of a drum hit, snap, piano note, or percussive vocal. It’s the burst of energy that gives the sound its punch, clarity, and rhythmic precision. Transients are crucial for making a sound cut through the mix. They can be enhanced or softened using tools like transient shapers, fast compressors, or through manual editing.
