Synthesis
Sound synthesis is the art of creating artificial sounds using synthesizers—hardware or software. Instead of recording real-world sounds, synthesis generates sound from scratch using waveforms, filters, envelopes, and modulation. There are several types of synthesis, each with its own approach to building sound: Subtractive, Additive, FM (Frequency Modulation), Granular, Wavetable, Physical modeling, Vector, and more.
