Sampling
Sampling is a music production technique that involves recording, cutting, and reusing a snippet of sound from another song, a movie, a vinyl record, or any audio source. The sample can then be manipulated, transformed, or integrated into a new composition, often using a sampler. Sampling is foundational in hip-hop, electronic music, lo-fi, and beatmaking, and ranges from simple loops to complex audio collages. It can be creative, nostalgic, or subversive, depending on how it’s used.
