Hertz [Hz]
Hertz (Hz) is the unit used to measure frequency, meaning the number of vibrations per second of a sound. The higher the hertz, the higher the pitch; the lower the hertz, the deeper the sound. For example, the standard A4 note vibrates at 440 Hz. The human ear typically hears frequencies between 20 Hz and 20,000 Hz. Hertz is a core concept in music, sound synthesis, and audio processing.
